TUTORIA
by THOMAS BOUCHER-STALIN

The aim of TUtoria
With the aim of accompanying each TUtorando individually - the TUtoria service aims to help forge character and personality, respecting the individuality of each one.
The sessions will be approximately one hour long and take place in a place to be agreed upon by the TUtorando, TUtor and parents - (home, library...) - NOW ALSO IN A FORMAT DESIGNED FOR ONLINE.
It is based on a pedagogical intervention, which aims, in addition to school follow-up, at the realisation of potential and personal development. It also aims to promote the integration of English pupils into Portuguese education.
This follow-up should allow personal and periodic contact with the school and, naturally, with the parents.
A personalised follow-up plan will be drawn up, according to the student's profile, designed by the TUtor. Study schemes and planners will be proposed, with individualised guidance.
With an approach concerned with the TUtorando's Cognitive Schemas, this follow-up aims to help
- to create a way of organising knowledge;
- to define the mental structures of knowledge, skills and even ideas already learned and available;
- in the appropriate study and learning strategies - identifying errors and correcting them;
- in managing study time and weekly organisation of work and associated school tasks.
Special attention will be given to changing existing schemes, either by eliminating misconceptions or by helping the TUtorando to learn and understand the underlying principles.
The plans developed involve the collaboration of the TUtorando, with visible results in the first months.
This work is carried out discreetly and confidentially.

Did you know that...
That the TUtoria accompaniments are the equivalent of a Home Run in Baseball?
Benjamin Bloom - psychologist and pedagogue, well known for his taxonomy - states that TUtoria offers much superior results compared to conventional teaching ("TUtorando performance is 98% above students in a conventional class").
He considered three instructional conditions: Conventional, Domain Learning and TUtoria.
"The most surprising of the findings is that under the best conditions we can conceive of (TUtoria), the average student is '2 sigma' above the control student taught in conventional group/class instruction methods."
You've probably thought about this... enlighten yourself here...
YES... boys and girls have different needs and learn differently - with different times, at different times, in different contexts...
Among boys and girls there are not "the best or the worst" - there are timings that must be respected...
Understanding that, why will make all the difference.
The difference is in the way learning is promoted. Usually boys tend to learn best when instruction/information is accompanied by pictures, graphs and even physical movements. Girls usually benefit when they are given the opportunity to talk about solving a problem and work in groups to find solutions...
Alongside personal education, academic learning and training is also a matter for parents...
Understanding the issues that children go through at their various stages of development can help parents to decide when to let their child learn by staying in their comfort zone and when they can push their child to try to go further...
Comparisons between boys and girls - especially at the same age (if they are twins even more so) - are constant.
There is often the idea that the boy is "less" than the girl...
There is always something more that we can do.
After having gone through childhood in an educational system (possibly) little focused on the real needs of students, preadolescence and adolescence always bring new challenges... not only for parents/teachers/carers, but also for the boy and girl. Hormonal issues, peer management and recognition (group integration), correspond with or not correspond with expectations (from self and others)...
The TUtoria proposed here has in mind all these issues and many others...
I really want to help not only the student but also the parents and their families.
We all know that the fact that a child that is not keeping up with his studies at school, is unhappy or unable to achieve success can lead to a range of other associated problems, and the whole family is affected... this is where TUtoria can be the help you are looking for.
This service is not just another hour of support lesson - it is about understanding what the problem is and together finding strategies to overcome it.
